|Supervises and directs a program concerned with the inspection of construction, repair and alteration of City and County owned buildings and related structures to assure compliance with approved plans and specifications; and performs other related duties as required.|
Under the general supervision of the Section Chief, this position supervises, directs and coordinates the inspection of all phases of construction of public structures and buildings, park recreational facilities, and renovation/restoration/redesign of grounds and appurtenances to assure that the materials, workmanship, and finished product are in compliance with approved plans, specifications, contractual documents, established standards, pertinent rules and regulations, and laws; and performs other related duties as assigned. Field assignments entail exposure to all types of weather and hazardous conditions at construction sites. May be required to stand, walk and bend for extended periods of time. If not provided a City vehicle, employee is required to provide personal vehicle for regular job transportation and be compensated therefore at union contract price.

|Minimum Qualification Requirements:|
|EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: |
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
Six (6) years of experience in inspecting or supervising a variety of building construction work.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of standard practices, methods, processes and tools used in building construction, including standard formulae of structural stability and safety and the accepted safety standards; and ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and blueprints; make mathematical computations; deal tactfully with building contractors and workers; and prepare reports and keep records.
