The immediate vacancies are located in Halawa to Kalihi and Downtown.

Salary$7,530 to $8,097 per month (SR-28, Step C to H - Salary includes Related Shortage Category Differential) - Effective July 16, 2019.

Duties Summary

The Engineer VI supervises the professional and nonprofessional personnel of a major engineering activity; develops procedures and standards for carrying out their specialty in the organization, and represents the organization with authority on technical engineering matters within the area of specialization; may direct a large engineering section or assist in directing a large engineering division or district office as a technical specialist in planning, development, design and/or research; may lead the efforts of a team engaged in carrying out difficult or critical project assignments with emphasis in the area of specialization; or serves as a staff specialist responsible for overall control and coordination of a number of major and complex engineering projects or programs; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Professional License:
 A valid State of Hawaii Professional Engineer license must be presented at the time of application.

Education: A bachelor's degree from a school of engineering at an accredited college or university.
 
Engineering Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience which required the knowledge and application of the basic physical and mathematical sciences and the engineering sciences to the solution of theoretical or practical engineering problems.

At least one year of the required Engineering Experience must have been comparable to the Engineer V in State service.

The Engineer V supervises the planning, design, construction, maintenance and/or operation of a number of major and complex engineering projects; or works independently on advanced planning, design or research projects involving elements of a highly critical or unprecedented nature.

Supervisory or Staff Advisory Experience: One (1) year of Supervisory or Staff Advisory Experience.

Driver's License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
