Salary: $25.46 to $31.00 per hour (SR-22, Step C to H).
Note: The starting monthly salary is at the minimum rate of pay advertised above.
Employees appointed to temporary positions may also gain membership in the civil service upon satisfactory completion of an initial probation period of at least six months. Once you become a member of the civil service, you become eligible to apply for promotion and transfer opportunities to permanent as well as other temporary positions. You may also enjoy other rights and benefits afforded to an employee in a permanent position with the exception of return rights and placement rights associated with a reduction-in-force.

- Duties Summary
Plans, develops, organizes and conducts informational and educational programs concerning various aspects of public health in an assigned geographical area and/or in an assigned specialized program area; compiles information and organizes material for use in health education programs; prepares and gives lectures and talks before interested groups; writes news releases, bulletins or other copies; prepares reports of activities and recommends changes in program content; provides consultation and guidance services to various individuals and community groups interested in developing and improving the health education activities of such groups; and performs other related duties as assigned. This is the journeyman level class in the Public Health Educator series.
- Minimum Qualification Requirements
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university.
Specialized Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience in community health education which involved educating the public in the prevention of disease and other unhealthy conditions, or working as a consultant to other professionally trained individuals such as physicians, nurses, social workers and teachers.
Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements, will apply.
