Position Specifics: Marine Mechanic Deck Systems with a minimum of 6 years’ shipboard / or submarine mechanical systems / equipment operations, maintenance and repair experience.

Applicant selected for this position will as a SEMAT Program Team member performing shipboard mechanical maintenance and repairs as t team Marine Mechanic.
• Must be able to plan organize and execute shipboard material condition assessments and repairs.
• Must be able to read and interpret ships drawings and technical documents and manuals.
• Must be competent in use of mechanical hand tools and test equipment in corrective repair efforts in order to affect equipment repairs.
• Knowledge of the Navy supply and 3M systems required.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be willing to travel.
• Must be able to physical able to climb and work on ships/submarines in an industrial environment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a confidential or above security clearance and base access credentials.
Provides supervision to those assigned on a particular job or task. Applies understanding or production and processes to assignments. Interfaces with customers, manages subcontractors. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May assist in the development and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. May assist in scheduling, reporting and briefing customers and middle management. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment

Master understanding of production and processes. Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others. May provide direction and lead others. May manage one or more multiple jobs. Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools. Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks. Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. May perform quality inspections on finished product. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.

Preferred Qualifications
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
