AAC - Facilities Maintenance Technician



Pay Rate

Reports to the Facilities Supervisor/Manager. This position is responsible to assist in the operation of the Facilities Maintenance Department, and perform repairs and maintenance of building property to ensure safe and effective operations according to established Company procedures and/or instructions.

1. Perform repair and maintenance duties including, but not limited to:
a. Plumbing
b. Electrical Maintenance
c. Air Conditioning Maintenance
d. Mechanical Maintenance
e. Ground and Landscaping
f. Painting
g. Carpentry
h. General Maintenance tasks

1. Assist with administrative duties, as needed.
2. Troubleshoot problems that arise.
3. Occasionally provide assistance in other areas.
4. Perform other duties as required or assigned during the absence of the Facilities Supervisor.
5. Willing to travel and work in all other Island AAC locations.

Equipment / Tools Use: Various machinery and heavy equipment (air compressors, portable blowers, drill press, generators, etc.), hand tools, power tools, ladders, dollies, hand trucks and chemicals (paint, adhesive, gasoline, and air conditioning chemicals, etc.)

Work Hours: Generally 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., (Adjustable Hours as needed) Monday through Friday including weekend as needed; occasional longer hours and rotating “24hrs. on-call” status depending on work load.

Work Environment: Indoors; air conditioned environment. Outdoors; subject to current weather conditions. Must work with and around flammable and toxic chemicals and gases, and loud noise-making equipment.

Mental Demands: Plan, prioritize and organize work requests. Receive, comprehend and execute instructions relating to the performance of the tasks listed above.

Physical Demands: Duties require frequent and/or constant physical activities, including standing, climbing, crouching, and finger dexterity. This position also requires lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying up to 100 lbs for general maintenance tasks.


1.High School diploma or equivalent.
2.Certificates – any from the following Trade Schools preferred;
a.Refrigeration / Air Conditioning
b.Residential / Building Electrician
c.Heavy Equipment Operator/Mechanic

3.3 – 5 years experience in commercial / residential building maintenance or related field.

4.Working knowledge of all aspects of building maintenance, including the areas listed above or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

5.Valid driver’s license with good driving record required. CDL and Medical certificate preferred.

6.Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, 5-year background check, 10-year criminal history check and security threat assessment.
