MARINE ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

$32.05/hr

  • All personnel in this group shall be graduates of high school or GED equivalence.

  • Two (2) years of experience after achieving journeyman status as a marine electrician.Journeyman’s level of skill is developed from both formal training and work experience. The term Journeyman is specifically defined as a term applied to a worker who has completed a specified training program as an APPRENTICE MASTER TITLE (any industry) in learning a trade or craft, or can give written proof of four or five years of qualifying experience for such trade or craft.

  • Ship maintenance and repair experience of 2 or more years working on U.S. Naval vessels.

  • Working knowledge of trade mathematics and formulas required to calculate voltage, amperes, and resistance requirements and to determine size and types of material, such as controls, switches, distribution panels, fuses, cable and conduit size, determining power source, etc., for each project and/or test.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, written technical instructions, manuals and draw/make basic working diagrams and circuits.

  • Fully versed in the use of all types of electrical measuring instruments and various electronic measuring devices, such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, and power analyzers.

  • Ability to accurately use the following measuring tools:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Electrical Safety – In accordance with NAVSEA OSHE Control Manual for Navy Shipyards, Chapter 230, Electrical Safety Policy; NAVSEA OSHE Control Manual for Navy Shipyards, Chapter 231, Portable Electric Hand Tools; and Corporate Engineering Instruction, CEI-0051-101, Stray Voltage Handling Procedure During Initial Voltage Verification (IVV)

  2. Negative Pressure Respirator - contractor personnel provided must be trained in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.134.

  3. Confined Space Safety - contractor personnel provided must be trained in accordance with 29 CFR 1915 Subpart B.

    *MUST be capable of obtaining a fully Adjudicated DoD Clearance. Candidates with a current fully adjudicated DoD Clearance (RED Badge ONLY) will be given priority for hiring.
