Sheet Metal Mechanic

SHEET METAL MECHANIC
All personnel in this group shall be graduates of high school or GED equivalence
Two (2) years of experience after achieving journeyman status as a sheet metal mechanic. Journeyman’s level of skill is developed from both formal training and work experience. The term Journeyman is specifically defined as a term applied to a worker who has completed a specified training program as an APPRENTICE MASTER TITLE (any industry) in learning a trade or craft, or can give written proof of four or five years of qualifying experience for such trade or craft.
Ability to apply and interpret blueprints and welding symbols to properly join metals in accordance with specified procedures and techniques.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to layout, fabricate and assemble sheet metals including but is not limited to, ventilation ductwork, storage lockers, shelves, habitability outfitting, metal joiner bulkheads and doors, messing work, laminate work and non-structural parts.
Ability to operate shop machinery, such as break presses, rolling machines, flange turning machines, punch presses, spiral duct machine, power shears, crimping machines, drill press, grinding wheels, as well as the ability to drill, bolt, pop rivet, saw, and grind to construct necessary sheet metal components.
Ability to perform basic geometry and trigonometry mathematical calculations.

Negative Pressure Respirator - contractor personnel provided must be trained in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.134.
Grinder Safety – 29 CFR 1910.215, Abrasive Wheel Machinery; ANSI STD B7.1-1988, Safety Requirements for the Use, Care, and Protection of Abrasive Wheels; ANSI STD B186.1-1984, Safety Code for Portable Air Tools.
*MUST be capable of obtaining a fully Adjudicated DoD Clearance. Candidates with a current fully adjudicated DoD Clearance (RED Badge ONLY) will be given priority for hiring.
