The Material Handling Laborer reports to the Warehouse Lead and is responsible for the activities of a satellite warehouse in the issuing and recovery of Individual Combat Equipment (ICE) and Individual Protection Equipment (IPE) to Marine and Navy personnel. The Material Handler also processes personal effects, items for DRMO and prepares and issues temporary loans.

 

Duties:

  • Operate DPAS database to ensure transfers are inputted into the system
  • Assigns locations for materiel
  • Performs physical tasks to transport or store material as well as ensuring that it is also moved electronically within the DPAS database
  • Manually load or unload freight cars, trucks, or other transporting devices; unpacking, shelving, or placing items in proper storage locations; or transporting goods by hand truck, cart, or wheelbarrow
  • Examines material delivered to verify if type specified
  • Sort gear returned to different locations in warehouse to prepare for reissue
  • Conduct serviceability inspections on all gear returned
  • Ensure high level of customer service
  • Ensure issues/returns/exchanges are completed following established procedures
  • Help ensure issue and return points are clean
  • Help ensure issue point is properly stocked
  • Additional related duties as assigned or required within scope

 

Qualifications

  • Prior experience with DPAS and warehouse experience
  • 1 year Forklift Operator experience (6K)
  • Working knowledge of the governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines
  • Analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to collect the necessary data to establish the facts, and take or recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines

 

Requirements

Successful candidates must possess:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable security investigation in order to be issued a Common Access Card
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent follow up skills
  • Ability to understand the real needs of the organization serviced
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, to include Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Fluency in English and be able to communicate effectively to include speaking and writing in English
  • Ability to be present at work each day and work the hours of the assigned shift
